Biography

Stella Litwinowicz is Assistant Professor of Engineering & Mathematics at Housatonic Community College. She teaches General Physics, Calculus-based Physics, Calculus III, Differential Equations and Engineering Thermodynamics, and serves as HCC’s Campus Coordinator for Connecticut College of Technology.

Prof. Litwinowicz began her career at Sikorsky Aircraft and held positions of increasing responsibility in Engineering, Program Management, Operations, and Business Development. Her leadership roles include management of all Sikorsky aftermarket sales and partnerships in the region of Europe, Russia & Central Asia, and leading strategic direction for a $1B Product Center encompassing engineering, procurement, quality, machining, and assembly of rotors, transmissions, engines, and hydraulic components. As an engineer, Prof. Litwinowicz worked on UH-60MU and Autonomous Formation Flying control systems, for which she has patents granted and pending. She left her most recent position as Director of Commercial Support Programs to pursue her passion for education, especially STEM education in under-served communities.

Prof. Litwinowicz earned her Bachelor of Science in Physics and Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Jacksonville University where she was an NCAA Division I rower and team captain. She also earned her Master of Science in Aeronautics & Astronautics from MIT, Master of Science in Mathematics from Fairfield University, and MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. In her personal time, she enjoys playing music, doing physics, gardening, surfing, and travelling with her husband who is also retired from Sikorsky. She also enjoys mentoring students of all backgrounds and interests, so please feel free to drop by her office.
