HCC-JED Campus Objectives

HOUSATONIC – JED CAMPUS OBJECTIVES

Housatonic Community College (HCC) is proud to be the first community college in Connecticut to partner a four-year strategic collaboration with the JED Campus in Spring 2019 with establishing an interdisciplinary, campus-wide team to self-assess, support and implement program, policy, and help create positive, lasting, systemic change in the campus community.

The program provides colleges with a comprehensive framework to:

  • Enhance and promote students’ and college community’s mental health and well-being through programs, services, activities and resources. ‘click here’ (add link to HCC -JED Campus Framework - COVID -19)
  • Suicide Prevention and prevention of serious substance mis-use – Build awareness, teach skills necessary to cope with stresses of college life, intervene and reduce the potential for self-harm behaviors. Train and develop competent professional team and strong peer support system.

HCC is fully aware and supports the prevailing research that student wellbeing is critical to student success. As a college, we want students to feel that sense of genuine care and support when they are on our campus.

We are excited to enhance and build on the existing counseling - wellness, the many student affairs/services and programs, by utilizing the data and feedback available to us as JED Campus partners. Additionally, through collaboration with college and community professional team, Housatonic Community College is committed to enhance efforts in providing culturally sensitive programs, activities and services that leads to college persistence and completion.

All self-assessment responses and feedback reports are confidential.
