Biography

Matthew Keaney is an Instructor of History at Housatonic Community College where he teaches courses on Western & World Civilizations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from James Madison University, a master’s degree in Comparative World History from George Mason University, and a Ph.D. in African History from Yale University. His research focuses on 20th century South Africa, specifically the social, political, and cultural power of reading and writing in the struggle against apartheid. Prior to joining the faculty at Housatonic Community College, he taught classes at Gateway Community College, Quinnipiac University, and Yale University. He lives in New Haven with his family.
