So far, Professor Becker’s career has taken him from the Bridgeport headquarters of People’s Bank to Madison Avenue in New York and back again. 

As Vice President and Director of Advertising at People’s Bank, he promoted the bank’s consumer and commercial products as well as the growing branch system. He designed the bank’s first website -- -- and marketed the bank’s first supermarket branches.  In New York, he led a team that created marketing programs for many of the nation’s largest banks and well-known national retailers. He worked on the GE Capital account for a regional ad agency and served as a VP marketing for Cendant Corporation. He also has non-profit experience having worked for the National Endowment for the Humanities and the United Way. 

Ed Becker is a full time business professor of business and economics at Housatonic, and he has served in interim roles as academic dean and dean of outreach and continuing education. He also consults on strategic planning and marketing.  He earned BA, MA and MBA degrees from the University of Connecticut.
