Biography

Driss Mellouk joined the Housatonic Community College faculty in January 2012. Before coming to HCC, he taught Foreign Languages at Catholic University, Trinity University and Montgomery College. At HCC, he teaches elementary and intermediate courses in French, Arabic and Spanish. He has also taught cultural courses such as “Arabic Culture through Literature and Media”, University of New Haven. In the Spring of 2014, 

Driss earned his B.A in Spanish Language and Literature and M.A. in Language Education from Sidi Muhammad Ben Abdullah University (Fes, Morocco). He also holds two certificates in Spanish as a second language:

Universidad de Granada (Granada, España) and Universidad Santiago de Compostela (Galicia España).

Outside of the classroom, Driss is an active member of the HCC community. He is involved in numerous organizations and committees focused on improving students’ academic success and student growth and retention.

Driss’ interests are in language translation and Latin American literature. He enjoys discovering other cultures and civilizations through their literature. Driss is also an avid traveler and has a love for classical Spanish poetry.
