FAQ's

What time does the ceremony begin?

The ceremony will begin promptly at 10am. All students should arrive by 8:30am. The Student Procession will begin promptly at 9:45am.

Where can I order my cap & gown?

Graduation candidates must order cap and gown online. The last day for online pre-orders is April 6, 2023. There is no charge for cap & gown. What time should graduates arrive?

Graduates should arrive for 8:30am. Please check the commencement website for important updates related to graduate entry and procession assembly directions. www.housatonic.edu/commencement. Students who have chosen to participate in the commencement ceremony must plan to stay for the entire ceremony.

What time can guests arrive?

Guests can enter from 8:30am to 9:15am to be seated for the start of the Student Procession.

Is parking available?

Yes, the Amphitheater has two large parking lots available across the street. You can also park in the HCC parking garage, it is a 5-10 min. walk.

When can I pick up my cap and gown?

Graduates that did not pre-order cap and gowns by April 4th, will still be able to pick up a cap & gown beginning May 16th. Check your emails for further instructions.

Cap and gowns will be available for pick up at the HCC Bookstore beginning May 16th and up to graduation day. A valid ID must be shown for pickup.

Bookstore Hours:
Monday – Thursday 9:30am – 3pm
Friday, 9am – 12pm

How do I receive my honor cords?

Honor cords will be distributed at the Amphitheater prior to the ceremony to students who have honors (3.4) or higher.

Will I receive my diploma at graduation?

All graduates will be given diploma covers on stage at Commencement. An announcement will be made when commencement diplomas are available.

Will professional photography be available?

A professional photographer will be available to take your photo after receiving your diploma cover on stage at commencement. An order form will be mailed to you from the photographer so you can make arrangements directly with the studio for purchasing the photographs.

What if I forgot to order my cap and gown?

Graduates that did not pre-order cap and gowns by April 6th, will still be able to pick up a cap & gown beginning May 16th. Please see the Bookstore, as soon as possible, to discuss this.

What if I need special accommodations?

If you are a graduate with a disability who needs special accommodations, please contact Marilyn Wehr, Coordinator of Accessibility Services, , (203) 332-5018, no later than May 10.

What if my guests need special accommodations?

Guests of Students who require accessible seating at the ceremony will be assisted upon arrival by the staff of the Amphitheater.
