Interested in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)?
ESOL Student Checklist Process:
• Step 1: All students interested in ESL courses will need to complete the online admissions application. (Go to www.housatonic.edu and click on APPLY). High School Diploma/GED and Immunization is required. • Step 2: After your admission is complete, you must make an appointment to take the ESOL placement test. Go to www.housatonic.edu, click on “Enroll”, click on “Placement Testing”, and make the appointment. The Testing Center will provide instructions on the next steps the student should take based on the Student’s Accuplacer scores.
• Step 3: For information while the student is on campus, go to the Advising Center: Susan De Oliveira, Guided Pathways Advisor, Lafayette Hall, room L-112.
• Step 4: Contact Professor Maureen Cahill-Lamboley at for information or if you have questions about the ESOL Program.
ESOL Reading/Writing 40 aims to help students improve their vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills for daily communication and start preparing them for academic success. Students will have the opportunity to work individually, in small groups, and in whole-class discussions. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Accuplacer ESOL Placement Test.
