HCC Alumni Association Presents Souls of Black Girls Film & Discussion


Description: HCC students, faculty and staff joined Housatonic Community College Alumni Association for the screening and discussion on Souls of Black Girls a documentary written and produced by Daphne Valerius. Doors opened at 6:00pm on Fri., Feb. 22, 2019. Discussion with Daphne Valerius followed immediately after the film.

About the Documentary: A provocative news documentary that questions whether or not women of color are suffering from a self-image disorder.

About the Producer: Daphne Valerius is best known for the production of her award-winning documentary, The Souls of Black Girls. Her television production credits include work for networks such as ABC, FOX and BET. She is currently working on the development and production of her own television projects including "The Block", "Her Faith: In Her Words" and the sequel to her documentary, The Souls of Black Girls, Too!
