Robert Ryder is Associate Professor of Mathematics/Physics/Pre-Engineering at Housatonic Community College. He is the Site Coordinator for the Connecticut College of Technology, Project Leader for the Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Technologies (MET2) Program, serves as the community college representative on the CSCU Center of Nanotechnology Advisory Board, and was the Principal Investigator for a National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education grant.

Robert served in the U.S. Coast Guard on the cutter USCGC Decisive. After four years of military service, Robert received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. He subsequently was employed by Pratt & Whitney in the Combustion Group. There he worked as computational fluid dynamics engineer and authored the computational solver that was selected by NASA to become the National Combustion Code. He also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Manchester Community College. After Pratt & Whitney, Robert formed a new company called Flow Parametrics, LLC that was responsible for promoting and commercializing the National Combustion Code. With over twenty five years of industrial experience, he returned to teaching in 2010 as a full-time faculty member in the Math/Science Department at Housatonic Community College.
