Welcome to our Academic Breakout Sessions! Join any of the following presentations to meet faculty from your intended program of study. Learn in detail how our curriculum, internship opportunities, and student/faculty connections lead HCC students to successful careers and great transfer opportunities.

Nursing and Health Careers Pathway Certificate Information Session

The Health Care Career Pathway Certificate is useful for students interested in pre-nursing or allied health professions, such as Dental Hygiene, Radiology, or Respiratory Therapy. Students take the pre-requisite courses necessary to apply to their health care program of choice and are also able to earn a certificate from HCC.

Pre-Nutrition Information Session

Learn about the pre-nutrition major at HCC and how it is the first step in the career pathway of becoming a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist. I will review the list of courses for the prenutrition major and transfer opportunities at 4- year colleges. I'll be available to answer any questions you have about becoming a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist.

Chemistry and BioChemistry Information Session

Enroll in our Pathway to Teaching Careers Degree program and earn an AA degree from HCC while completing the first two years of your baccalaureate degree to become a teacher. Completion of this degree qualifies you to enter the classroom as a para-professional or continue your studies and pursue CT Certification as a Secondary or Elementary Educator. We can tailor the program to help you seamlessly transfer in a specialization of your choice.

Get Your Engineering Degree at Half the Price! with the College of Technology Engineering Science A.A. Degree at HCC

This Engineering Pathway program prepares you to seamlessly transfer into Engineering programs at the University of Connecticut, Central Connecticut State University, Fairfield University, University of Hartford, Sacred Heart University, University of Bridgeport, University of New Haven and the Applied Physics program at Southern CT State University.

HCC students have also successfully transferred to Universities outside the College of Technology including:

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Cooper Union, New York Institute of Technology, Stevens Institute of Technology, University of Michigan, Mississippi State University, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Biology and Pre-Health Professions Information Session

"Biology" would be for those who are fascinated with the science behind living organisms and who envision themselves working in a lab, doing research, teaching the subject or all these things! Also, a Bachelor's in Biology could serve as a precursor to any one of the above mentioned professions on the Pre-Health track. Pre-Health Professions" is for those with their sights set on one of these six professions:

  • Pre – Dental
  • Pre – Med
  • Pre – OT or PT
  • Pre – Physician Assistant
  • Pre – Vet

This session provides an overview of the coursework and related information needed to complete an Associate in Arts degree in Mathematics Studies. This degree would then be used to transfer to complete a B.A. or B.S. degree in mathematics.
