Housatonic Community College and Bridgeport Organization for Youth Sports, Inc. Connect Academics to Athletics

Registration Underway for STEAM Summer Camp

Fifth through ninth grade students are currently at HCC learning about science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) on Saturdays. The relationship between HCC and the Bridgeport Organization For Youth Sports, Inc. has created a bridge that connects academics and athletes.

STEAM @ HCC is led by Bridgeport Organization for Youth Sports and features experienced instructors and coaches. STEAM @ HCC focuses on the academic and personal development of under-represented students in the Greater Bridgeport area schools. The mission is to have all students exposed to the STEAM disciplines through various workshops and hands-on experiments. STEAM @ HCC is geared towards developing the student’s cognitive, problem solving, test taking, and presentational skills. The goal is for young students to gain a sense of empowerment and practical tools as well as skills for college readiness.

Registration for the STEAM Saturday Academy and STEAM Summer Camp at Housatonic Community College will take place on May 7th and May 14th in Lafayette Hall, C235 from 9 – 11 am.

The STEAM Summer Camp starts June 20th with varying sessions for grades 6-12th. Saturday Academy has started and late registrations are accepted.
