Biography

Professor Shelley Tomey has been employed in the field of early childhood inclusive education for over 26 years. She began her career as a Kindergarten teacher in the New Canaan Public Schools. Presently, she is Professor and the Academic Program Coordinator of Housatonic Community College's Early Childhood Inclusive Education Program (“ECIE”). She has taught at HCC for the last 19 years and since 2010, has been a full-time faculty member in the ECIE Program and Professional Studies Institute (PSI), a part of the Behavioral and Social Sciences Department.

In 2020, Professor Tomey earned a certificate of advanced graduate study from The Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning at Harvard University with a focus on higher education pedagogy.
