He then moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to pursue graduate studies in Physics and received his M.S. in Physics. As a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Michigan, Farshad developed a passion for teaching.

After working for several years in the New York metro area, he was drawn back to the classroom and attended Columbia University and later New York University where he worked on his master's degree.

After graduating from NYU, Farshad joined a software development & consulting firm to work as a programmer/analyst.

Prior to joining the faculty at Housatonic Community College, Farshad worked as a consultant software developer at Goldman Sachs and later as a software engineer at Accoona Corporation (Twing.com), a startup Internet search engine company.
