Biography

Professor Claudine J. Coba-Loh is a full time Professor of Psychology and Human Services, and Advisor to the Behavioral Healthcare Certificate Programs at Housatonic Community College. Her career started as a Mental Health Worker while attending Sacred Heart University majoring in Psychology. She went on to complete her graduate work in Psychology & Counseling at Southern CT State University, while continuing to gain experience as a Domestic Violence Counselor, then a Substance Abuse Counselor. Upon completing her Master’s Degree, she began working with individuals with dual disorders (mental illness and substance abuse) and soon after joined the faculty at HCC. She has over 30 years of clinical experience working with individuals with mental health issues, addiction issues, domestic violence and dual disorders. She is certified as a Domestic Violence Counselor, Drug & Alcohol Counselor and Motivational Interviewer. She has presented numerous workshops and training on issues and topics including, motivational interviewing, working with the dually diagnosed population, relapse prevention, building self-esteem
